Enzymes solved it. I think you should reduce the cal mag. That's a lot of mag. Try epsom salts instead. Don't give GSE everyday unless you chelating. Anything over 4 days w/GSE tends to turn a yeast problem into a bacteria problem. For everyday maintenance, I would use something like Candex, or olive leaf extract. These products do not kill all the good bacteria like GSE. Think of GSE as your heavy hitter when you have a major yeast problem. If you clear out the intestines with GSE, and then don't repopulate the good bacteris with a probiotic, you will get diahrrea. Some probiotics I use: Primal Defence - usually at HFS Perfect Stool Proflora Culturelle - a must for bacteria overgrowth The one you use may depend on your child. Klaire labs http://www.klaire.com/ carries a really strong one you might be interested in. Its expensive, but you can divide the dose if you want. Probably the strongest one ive seen. Its called Ther-Biotic Detoxification Support. Some folks got a discount by saying they heard of it through Dr McCandless. http://www.klaire.com/products.asp?PID=2 & CID=1 All probiotics are safe. You cant overdose, ever. Some get a loose stool once their intestines have normalized and they don't need such a high dose anymore. That's the thing about suppliments, you are always adjusting the dose as your childs needs change. Let me know if you have other questions. jennifer Thank You All For Your Help, I got some proboitics am working on our 3rd day now.. I don't see anything different but will keep trying.... Guest guest
Sharon, I have a friend in town who has had chronic diahrrea with both of her children since day one. She was changing 5+ stool diapers a day. That, in combination of red ears, some night waking, and the inability of probiotics and yeast killers to solve the problem - I convinced her to try houston enzymes. www.houstonni.com Her kids stool have finally started firming up after the diet/supplimentation etc. have not helped. Houston has three main enzyme products that are produced seperately (as opposed to one all inclusive enzymes-which is how the other manuf. do it) One is for gluten/caesin/soy breakdown, one for carbs, and one for phenols. Many children have phenol intolerance, which causes this kind of diahrrea. If you are on the GF/CF diet- enzymes are great for breaking down proteins you may have missed. Also, some parents have replaced the diet with enzymes. I always said if I was stranded on a desert island, and I had to pick 3 things to bring - enzymes would be one of them. Devon avoided the GI biospy using these. I don't know if the SAMe/pectin causes diahrrea- Ive never tried them. I suppose its possible. There is a separate list devoted to enzyme use - / If you are interested- this is the place to start. Guest guest
Sharon, There isnt much strength in that brand, although I have used it for my daughter(without noticing any real difference). Our maintenance dose is 20 billion/day - much higher if we are treating yeast or a bacteria problem. In order to get this strength, you either have to order online - or get your health food store to order it for you. I recently ordered from Klaire labs(Ther-Biotic Detoxification Support) /50 Billion (not sure why its detox, but anyway) so I could divide the dose - or use it full strength as I see fit. There is another brand called Ther-Biotic Complete which has a wider variety of strains. That's kind-of important - as there are more than just one needed strain needed in the gut. I cant say how well these work as of yet - I still say Primal Defense is by far our most trusted brand.... But I like to rotate. Anyway, I would strongly suggest you visit the enzyme group. My feeling would be to say " yep, you have to use all three " but you may find you don't want to after looking into it. IMO, the inability to digest food is so central to the gut-dysbiosis/autism realm that giving the best enzymes with every meal/snack is a must. I found this out the hard way when we ran out. When we started enzymes - we did 1/2 cap and built up to a full cap (one at a time) to watch for reactions. Devon had immediate language and a calm disposition right away. We did do a modified GF/CF. Now we do 1/2 cap w/ every meal. I can give a slight amount of gluten and caesin - but we always get gas and diahrrea if we give too much. Without the no-fenol enzyme, our stool problems are enormous. If you have more enzyme questions, e-mail me privately Re: [ ] Diahrrea () In a message dated 2/22/04 6:43:13 AM Pacific Standard Time, jenniferasmus@... writes: What probiotic are using and what strength?
