Guest guest
I read Boyd Haley's suggestion that DMSA & ALA given together could form disulfide bonds, rendering the treatment ineffective or dangerous. Has anyone effectively mixed the two capsules together in the same spoonful to give to a child? Or did you separate the two meds and by how long? nat
Guest guest
I have been giving the doses separately but every twelve hours the doses coincide. So, yes, I mix them in the same spoon and put them in ice cream together. For 7 rounds, I had no problems until today when my son just went crazy. He can't talk so I don't know what was wrong with him. What specific danger does Boyd Haley say this can cause? > I read Boyd Haley's suggestion that DMSA & ALA given together could > form disulfide bonds, rendering the treatment ineffective or > dangerous. > > Has anyone effectively mixed the two capsules together in the same > spoonful to give to a child? Guest guest
If you search the archived messages, you will find Andy's answer to that. I always mixed ALA and DMSA and gave them every 3 h. My son has made huge progress so it worked for us. He has done 50+ rounds. > I read Boyd Haley's suggestion that DMSA & ALA given together could > form disulfide bonds, rendering the treatment ineffective or > dangerous. > > Has anyone effectively mixed the two capsules together in the same > spoonful to give to a child? Guest guest
Boyd Haley's discussion on this is not relevant and there is no reason to separate doses. It really doesn't matter if they form disulfides, this happens all the time with your endogenous lipoic acid and any DMPS or DMSA you take, it happens with the cysteine and glutathione in your body and any DMPS or DMSA you take, and the DMPS and DMSA even form disulfides with each other. These are not toxic and this is not a problem. I don't think Dr. Haley's comments were meant for public distribution so I don't think he really analyzed this in great detail.
