Guest guest
Getting medical with SSI depends on your state. Some states don't offer it. As long as you qualify income wise to get even 1 dollar a month all medical is covered...but if you go over the income level then you do lose your medical. You can buy into the medicaid program if that happens for a small fee and get your health coverage like that if you have been approved for ssi but were kicked off because your income level went up or you have more then 2000 in the bank. They do check your bank accounts very 6 months and if for any reason you had more then 2000 in the bank at one time you will owe back the money they sent for that month but the medical coverage from that month will still be in effect..hope this helps some. I know things seem desolate right now...and it's hard to see any positive in your life right now..and I am sure you can't see any positive coming your way in the future..but believe me...it's there..and will always be there..you have wonderful friends in this group..and you have 3wonderful children that love you with all their hearts even if they don't always show it...and your husband is sticking in there with you which is more then most men would do...and he cares for the kids when you are unable too...it's because even if he doesn't always show it the way you want him to...he does love you. I am here if you need anything...so is everyone else on here...so don't be afraid to ask...everyone needs help sometimes..and no matter what you think about the world not needing you in it..you are needed more then you can imagine....Hugs..GinnyTonia wrote: Jo,I don't qualify for SSDI, only SSI....and yes, Getting SSI, income does matter. His income will determine how much I recieve. If he makes $900 a month, I'd only get $200 a month from SSI. And I have no clue about how the Medical will work....if I'll get it with no problems, or if I'll have to have a spend down because of income, or if I'll be able to get it without worrying about if his income will change anything.I've tried to get Gene to go and get his GED, even my Mother tried to get him to go with her when she went to go get hers.....he still wouldn't go and get his. He says that he can get just as good as a job with or without it. He says that he can get a better paying job than I can get, and I have my diploma. So, I'll never change his mind and have him go get his.Tonia
Guest guest
..i didn't know that...I know MA offers it the way I stated...I figured since ssi was a federal program and the reason you would get ssi is because you are medically or emotionally disabled and most that are on ssi are children believe it ot not..that medical would be offered to all. The reason my son is on it is because he is autistic and needed speech therapy, OT and PT and ABA therapy and most ins. do not cover extra therapy once a child is in school..because it is the school's responsibility to provide the necessary therapies...if my son got all the therpy he neede in school he would never be in class he would always be in OT, PT or speech. I find it outrageous that some states don't offer medical with SSI. Thanks for informing of that...Because I lived in Wisc for 2 yrs and SSI was run just like it is in MA and so is NH and VT because I have good friends with children who are on SSI there. Nevre even crossed my mind that all states wouldn't be consistent with the way this program is run....Hugs..GinnyKM86@... wrote: Getting medical with SSI depends on your state.
