Jo,

I don't qualify for SSDI, only SSI....and yes, Getting SSI, income does matter. His income will determine how much I recieve. If he makes $900 a month, I'd only get $200 a month from SSI. And I have no clue about how the Medical will work....if I'll get it with no problems, or if I'll have to have a spend down because of income, or if I'll be able to get it without worrying about if his income will change anything.

I've tried to get Gene to go and get his GED, even my Mother tried to get him to go with her when she went to go get hers.....he still wouldn't go and get his. He says that he can get just as good as a job with or without it. He says that he can get a better paying job than I can get, and I have my diploma. So, I'll never change his mind and have him go get his.

because her boyfriend left school and never got his GED,

I just wanted to jump in here. One of our daughters' boyfriend just recently GOT his GED. He had put it off for several years, thinking it was not important. It was, in so many ways. He is very proud of himself, it has given him more self-esteem, etc.

He didn't feel the tests were too difficult, and is now planning on entering a "trade school" to become a vet tech. Once he completes that, he can go on to different things as well.

Tonia, although you do rely on Gene to help you take care of kids, etc., one day soon, the children will all be able to get themselves ready for school, etc. It may be easier to try and get his GED now, and plan on doing something in the future. If you get SSDI, does income still matter?

Hugs,

Jo

Tonia...I know some about SSI because my son is on it. As long as you qualify income wise to get even 1 dollar a month all medical is covered...but if you go over the income level then you do lose your medical. You can buy into the medicaid program if that happens for a small fee and get your health coverage like that if you have been approved for ssi but were kicked off because your income level went up or you have more then 2000 in the bank. They do check your bank accounts very 6 months and if for any reason you had more then 2000 in the bank at one time you will owe back the money they sent for that month but the medical coverage from that month will still be in effect..hope this helps some. I know things seem desolate right now...and it's hard to see any positive in your life right now..and I am sure you can't see any positive coming your way in the future..but believe me...it's there..and will always be there..you have wonderful friends in this

group..and you have 3 wonderful children that love you with all their hearts even if they don't always show it...and your husband is sticking in there with you which is more then most men would do...and he cares for the kids when you are unable too...it's because even if he doesn't always show it the way you want him to...he does love you. I am here if you need anything...so is everyone else on here...so don't be afraid to ask...everyone needs help sometimes..and no matter what you think about the world not needing you in it..you are needed more then you can imagine....Hugs..GinnyTonia wrote:
