I am having my decompression surgery Wed. morning, and this is good. anyhow, have one question that maybe some of you can answer for me. I have chiari and the syringomeyelia and am wondering will I have to wear a halo?? I have come to understand with reading all the posts here, that some of you have had to wear one for quite a long period of time afterwards. Is it for those with more damage to the spine?? Or standard procedure after decompression. My neourosurgeon has told me that to have as much mobility of the neck after is best.
