You say right after you take it, how soon? The T3 in Armour you can;t possibly

feel for at least an hour or more and the T4 much longer, like days to weeks. It

might help for you to split you doses up into several times a day so you are

taking less at one time. I have to split mine into four times a day. But you

should do at least twice a day if you can taking the larger portion in the

morning. As you are working with 2 grain tablets, try taking 1 and a quarter

tabs in the AM then take the second tab in the early afternoon. I imagine your

heart is weak from running too slow for too long and you will need to increase

your meds very slowly so it can have time to adjust to the stimulation of the

T3.

OOOH< men have a terrible time accepting that low sex drive is physical and not

that you don;t love them anymore.. Hurts the old EGO. At your age, I would think

Armour would bring that right back where it should be pretty quickly ONCE you

are on an optimal dosage.

That sounds like indigestion more than heart pain. It is too soon after taking

them for that. Maybe you could try eating a slice of toast with them. I know

everyone says take them an hour before eating, but if it bothers your stomach,

you need to eat something bland wit it. Just avoid anything with calcium or iron

with them.

Well I have wished this disease on several X-boyfriends, but then not really.

Men are such babies when they are sick I doubt I could stand to be around a hypo

man! LOL NO ONE that has not had this disease can understand how it feels. I can

remember my last X pinching my swollen legs to be cute, when it hurt so bad it

brought tears to my eyes and he would laugh.. see why he's an X???

,

My first thought is that they should test your adrenals! Low blood pressure

is often a sign of low

adrenals. Did they check your blood pressure?

in Va.

hey guys I had to go to the emergency room today because my husband couldnt

feel much of a pulse on me and my blood pressure was low I was veryyy dizzy

almost feeling like I woudl pass out, anyway they ran blood tests on me and

here

are the results

TSH= 47.10

T3= 1.57

T4= 6.3

IT SAYS CMP/BMP/ LYTES(I AM ONLY POSTING THE ABNORAL ONES)

GLOBULIN= 3.6 IT SAYS HIGH

K= 3.4 IT SAYS LOW

CBC TEST

RBC =5.11 SAYS HIGH

MCV =79 SAYS LOW

THE DOCTOR TOOK ME OFF ARMOUR AND PUT ME ON 0.15 MG OF SYNTHROID, HE SAYS

ARMOUR WILL NOT HELP ME, I AM NOT SURE WHAT TO DO WHETHER TO GO TO A

HOLISTIC

DOCTOR OR TAKE THIS SYNTHROID BUT I AM FEELING HORRIBLE, BECAUSE I AM NOT

SURE IF

I SHOULD CONTINUE ARMOUR OR START ON SYNTHROID, ANY ADVICE LET ME KNOW SINCE

I CANT EVEN THINK STRAIGHT

Never mind what I said about the adrenals then, unless you start having

hyper symptoms on Armour.

It sounds like the Toprol could be lowering your blood pressure too much.

What was your blood pressure

To start with?

in Va.

have you guys had chest pain, because right after I take my meds I get chest

pains, and the doctor had given me topro;l but I wasnt sure whether to take

it

while I had low blood pressure, not sure if the toprol can stop my heart, so

I havent been taking it

I buy it at the grocery store. 2 - 3 a day wouldn't hurt you but you need

to find out if/why you are low potassium. It could have been just a

fleeting condition from your low thyroid state.

Val

My husband buys and restores old muscle cars like 1967 Camaro's, 1955 Chevy's,

etc. The value of these cars are more then some of the brand new cars on the

market today! Tell that stupid Dr., Armour has a value like the older muscle

cars! LOL Synthroid did nothing but make me sick and gave me acid reflux.

I have not seen any lawyers advertising on TV to come to them if we have had a

problem with Armour! LOL

Kathy

Re: UPDATE ON CONDITION AFTER ER VISIT *TEST

my endo told me this when I asked to be put on armour

he said

when you compare armour and synthroid its like comparing an old beat up carto

a mercedes!!

anyway after literally begging for it he gave in and me on armour but of

course a low dose to prove his point that its no good!

but ever since I am taking armour I have felt more energy even when my tsh is

that high, I mean of course i dont feel normal, but with synthroid i have

always felt out of energy even when my tsh was low.

I think your problem is that your Armour dose was too low and this

is giving problems with heart function. Thyroid hormone plays an

important role in how the heart works and in how the adrenals work.

If thyroid is too low, then the adrenals don't make enough hormones

and this affects how the tiny vessels in the extremities work.

Cortisol controls constriction of tiny vessels and in this way

controls blood pressure. So, when cortisol is low, blood pressure

can be low. Also, if thyroid levels are not sufficient, the heart

cannot constrict properly and thus keep blood pressure up.

There is rare mention in old papers of people becomming resistant to

Armour. But, there is no research to back this up. It is more old

thinking. But, if there is a possibility this is true, then a

combination of T3 and T4 with similar proportions to Armour would

probably work well. But, I really think this is unlikely as there is

no support in the research for this and it is hard to think that a

person can become resistant to hormones that are exactly the same as

human.

I'm wondering if you had a stress of some kind before this low blood

pressure attack. Did you get sick or have to do a lot of activity?

If so, then I would suspect it is a low adrenal and/or low thyroid

issue. Extra stress and activity can cause cortisol to go low and

deplete thyroid hormone.

If you felt better on the Armour, I would stay on it. This implies

you are not resistant and that your dose is just too low for you.

HI, Tish and everyone,

I'm a bit confused. If Toprol (not sure if I spelled that correctly) is for

high blood pressure, did

She start with high blood pressure? Could the medication have caused the low

blood pressure?

Or at least been a part of it? I do believe everything you've said (below).

It really makes sense.

And I've heard that an electrolyte imbalance can cause heart problems

including heart attacks.

Isn't potassium considered an electrolyte? Could this be contributing to the

chest pains? Do you

Think the doctors (ER) may have switched to Synthroid due to the T3 in

Armour and the chest pains?

But, as usual, the idiots don't bother to explain anything to the patient.

That always irks me.

However, it's more than likely the usual Synthroid pushing. I'm just

thinking out loud.

I do believe that her dosage was way too low for way too long.

, I do hope you find a good doctor to help you!

in Va.

yes cris that is true, you have to make sure the doc will prescrbe the meds

before paying a hefty $270, I am sure my medical doc would prescribe it because

he doesnt know much about thyrodi disease.but of course my endo wont but I

dont see him anymore, in any case if we could find a godo doc close by that we

can see in person it woudl be best, the one I will see charges less than $150

so thats not bad at all.

call your local pharmacy and ask them what doctors prescribe Armour. That is how

I found my doctor.

Cris

Re: UPDATE ON CONDITION AFTER ER VISIT *TEST

I would be VERY leery of a doctor that prescribes without even seeing you. But

in a pinch, it is certainly better than staying on Synthroid. You haven;t hurt

your self by taking the Synthroid again. It IS better than nothing at all when

you have as low a thyroid as your is. I would take the Synthroid for now, and

hunt a local doctor that is willing to give you Armour. ASK them when you call

their office before making the appointment.

and then you are still in the same boat - your dr. still won't prescribe - and

you're out the $270.00.

Re: UPDATE ON CONDITION AFTER ER VISIT *TEST

here is thatw ebsite for that doctor, he does seem a bit greedy I mean $270

for a phone consult is alot, he actually doesnt prescribe anything he lets you

knwo what you need to take and then you inform your doc here is his website,

he is making easy money doing this since he doesnt even have to see the patient

or examine them.
