My son is 3 years old. He is having diarrhea for past 4 months now

for about a month he is having blood in his diarrhea. We gave

antibiotic for bacteria but still the blood is coming and he is

going 4 or 5 times daily. He is loosing weight and I don't know what

to do? We havin'tchanged any food and he is in Kirkman enzymes. He

drinks rice milk only.I would appreciate any advice.

You need to get him to a GI doctor. This is not just part of having autism.

Your son has a serious GI issue that needs to be addressed right away.

Many of our autistic kids have legitimate GI disease. They must be diagnosed

and treated just as a " typical " child would be.

I would stop the rice milk and try removing grains from his diet. The Specific

Carbohydrate Diet deals with diarrhea . You can give him sheep's yogurt (can

purchase from website below) and Culturelle (can purchase from Kirkmans). If

the diarrhea starts to clear up with the Culturelle....stop using it as soon as

the stool is formed. It is rather strong. His system is probably out of

balance because of the antibiotics. Continue using yogurt and another

probitotics even after the diarrhea is gone.

This in my opinion. I pray this helps. I would also make an appointment with a

GI doctor (I did get much help there but maybe it will be different for you).

If they want to do a GI scope make sure they give him a secretin infusion to

check his pancreas.
