It is generally fine to do this, as long as there has not been mercury exposure in the last few months. Also ALA doesn't chelate lead well -- DMSA is clearly much better (and needed) for lead. DMSA MAY also be better for some other metals, not sure. > I am currently using PCA-Rx to chelate and have come to > realize that it is not working. For that you really should consider using DMSA. > What would be the dosage for a > child this age and weight??? http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/Andy_dose_sched.html About 3 to 11 mg per dose, every 3 hours. > Does the level of toxicity change the > dosage??? no. good wishes, Moria

[He also needed anti-virals and several supplements for recovery.] >>What would be the dosage for a > child this age and weight??? For my 2-1/2 yo, I started with 10 mg ALA. >>Does the level of toxicity change the > dosage??? Not that I know of. Dana
Guest guest
I am doing ALA only on myself and my 2 and 4 year old. I started with DMPS but after a possible reaction by my 2 year old and a sore in my mouth, I opted for ALA only. The most important thing was to keep chelating in one form or another. As a comparison, I really could feel the DMPS working in my body. I can feel the ALA sometimes too, but I do think we may have more side effects than we would have had with the DMPS. First, I have been dealing with yeast. Not really in myself anymore (12 rounds done) and not in my 4 year old (8 rounds done), but very much so in my 2 year old (6 rounds done). I use probiotics aggressively and the anti-yeast in any case. My 4 year old has had a herpes flair, but I just added some more anti-virals. My 2 year old has had impetigo. I think that our systems are all working hard and need to be supported. Who knows if that wouldn't have happened with the DMPS only. Also, the chelation apparently will go slower. Other things have been peeing in the pants, pooping in the pants (we are potty trained), spitting, head in the sand. Generally, these things happen between rounds. Right now the pee and poop situation are under control, but today (we just ended a round yesterday). There was head in the sand and laying around for the first time in a long time and spitting. Neurologically, my 4 year old seems more with it and better at tasking and not so ADD. He is the only one with noted neurological issue (which got us all here in the first place). I just did a hair test just before two rounds ago (i.e., Rounds 10, 6, and 4), and heavy metals are up from 6 months ago. Mercury excretion in the hair is up again for my 4 year old and lower (but kind of bouncing around) for my 2 year old and consistently lower (since I started measuring 1 1/2 years ago) in me. At the time of the hair test, I had been chelating for 4 months and the kids for 2 months. Lead (excretion in hair) is up 3 to 4 times in all of us, and this is compared to all 4 hair tests we have done over the last 1 1/2 years. I don't know how this jives with what Moria saying that ALA doesn't chelate lead. 2 year old: was .63 now 2.1 4 year old: was .22 now .90 38 year old: was .11 now .33 We all lost our Uranium reading. Other weird things were that both kids had sky high Nickel, Silver, Titanium and the 2 year old Tin as well. I think the Silver is from our spa. I used the Nature 2 thing to clean the water and it is Zinc and Silver. Their Zinc was also bizarrely high as was Calcium (which I had added to my spa water) and Copper and Magnesium. I think some of this has to do with the swimming pool water and my spa water. The Titanium could be from sun block? I try not to use block with crap like this in it, but it looks like this could be it. I am wondering if the Nature2 spa thing wasn't such a good idea. Guest guest
I read that chelation goes faster if you use DMSA and ALA (versus ALA only). I think (not sure 100%) it is in Andy's book. Dosage does not really change depending on the level of toxicity, but the more the child is toxic, the lower you want to start to minimize side effects. I started chelating my son when he was 23 mo with 4mg of DMSA for 12 rounds, and then I added ALA. Today, after 50+ rounds, he takes 10 mg and even if that sounds very low, he still makes significant progress. > Hey everyone i was wondering if someone could give me feedback on using ALA > only to chelate.
