Guest guest Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 Hello.... As I previously stated earlier, I had a nice Thanksgiving and my family enjoyed the dinner I prepared. Even tho I used artificial sweetners, boneless-skinless chicken breast etc. I have managed to gain 4 lbs. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR I don't feel I have " stuffed " myself, rather, picked at too much of the 'good stuff' throughout the day. Then Saturday, we had out-of-town guests. Again, I prepared the meal (low fat, healthy ingredients, etc.) However, consumed more calories than I had been in the past 3 months. These Holidays are going to kill me LOL I have 2 Christmas parties coming up in the next 2 weeks. I guess I will have to be extra careful in between. My question to those who are post-op for some time now and have more experience than I do is....... if the pouch does stretch some because of mild over-eating, does it conform to the 'samll' pouch again after reducing your intake again? As I said, I don't feel I was stuffed. I did not feel sick in anyway; just picking at too much and moreso increased calories over those couple days. Thanks for your feedback Audrey in PA Quote
Guest guest Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 I'm not sure I'm reading this right. By picking at stuff do you mean you were grazing? Your pouch could be relatively small and you could sit and graze all day on moderately healthy things but still consume too many calories. Stick to defined meal times of 20-30 minutes and run (don't walk) from bowls of even healthy things left around to munch on. Even munching on healthy things all day is a bad habit to get into in my opinion unless I suppose it's bottles of water. I've got a dinner date this weekend (with a girl I never got a chance to date in high school, woo hoo), a Christmas potluck on Dec 15, an unofficial Christmas party at a local bar after work on the 15th and the company's formal Christmas party at the local convention center on the 16th. Now that's a recipe for disaster. The plan is to load up with water, be aware of the location of bathrooms (to get rid of the water) and to eat protein first, then veggies and not bother with other things. I might have a little wine in there but nothing serious. I'll let you know how I fair and if anyone else notices. I'm not sure about the ability of the pouch to bounce back in size. My guess would be not but then most of what I do at 10 months doesn't seem so much a limitation of the pouch but a limitation of my own habits. Of course those habits were developed months ago because of the pouch so there is that. Good Luck! Mike in GR > > Hello.... Guest guest Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Audrey, What I would try to do is stick to 3 meals a day. Do not snack and graze. It is the snack and grazing that will kill your weightloss. It sounds like you did a great job on picking your choices. Hang in there!!! HUGS!!!! > > Hello.... Guest guest Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Try getting rid of snack foods and don't buy anymore. If it's not there, you can't eat it, right? Guest guest Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 Oh, ok. Part of my job is handling workers' compensation for the whole agency. I told my state insurance fund rep today that she's gonna get a stress case from me soon, cause I need some time off work. We had a good chuckle. Boy.....I could use a vacation from my life in general. But that's for another board. Guest guest Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 I think if you need to snack, then keep to the sunflower seeds and soy crisps and I even eat low fat string cheese and even some peanuts and other nuts like almonds.
