Guest guest
While it might be interesting to see a correlation on thimerasol use and educational ability, I think the differences are much more likely to be caused by certain cultural habits and the way math is taught in other countries. We homeschool and use the program developed by instructors in Singapore, a country is known for consistently excelling in math instruction. If you compare the way they teach math to typical curriculums used in the US, you can see that it is very different. Singapore puts much greater emphasis on reasoning and thinking skills. Their word problems are the hardest I've ever seen and require a great deal of thought rather than simple memorization of certain words or formulas. I've had to really work hard to think through some of these problems once we got to the 5th grade level and I was always considered excellerated in math in school. We chose the program because of the way it moves from concrete to the abstract with every lesson and is pretty visually based. It has certainly helped my son excell on the math portion of standardized tests. Gaylen
