Guest guest
One more recommendation Sherry - Dr. Gross did my right hip, damaged from a childhood fence-jumping incident, and I only stumbled onto resurfacing thru word of mouth in my office 10 days before I was to have a THR by the top ortho in Michigan, who gave me old info on resurfacing and thumbed his nose at it. I cancelled the THR after talking person to person with Gross for at least 30 minutes after much preparatory websurfing, convinced by his forthrightness, detailed explanation and conviction. His assistant Lee Webb was terrrific along with everyone else in their office. My operation was less painful than having my left rotator cuff repaired arthroscopically, and I was driving in 10 days, going to meetings on crutches in about 3 weeks, and back in the office in 4 1/2 weeks, off all support around 6 weeks, and now, 5 1/2 months later, taking 4 flights of stairs at work every day two steps at a time. This morning I felt so good I jogged from the parking lot into the office, and I'm 59 and no great athelete - it is so great to be walking normally again after 3 years of limping. My incision was about 6 inches, but in my mind, I'd rather have the surgeon have adequate space to work in and do a good job, than to have his vision and access obscured by trying to work thru too small an incision. I had several small glitches along the recovery path which I of course worried about at the time, but they turned out to be normal occurrences during the healing process and now are gone. Good luck to you! I was overwhelmed, to say the least. Hearing from so many of you gives me a real boost of confidence in the Dr. and the procedure. By the way, does Dr. Gross offer the 3 " mini incision approach to the resurfacing procedure?
