Guest guest
, I understand your concern. My husband is a firefighter and works 24hour shifts. I am a nurse and after was born I went prn so I work on his days off. is three now and this has been our arrangement for almost 3 years now. We didn't even utilize childcare with our first child. It was family and that was our plan with until he was born with clubfoot. actually stayed with my parents when we needed a sitter up through when he first got the DBB. We had issues with it in the beginning and each time he would slip my dad would have to bring him to the hospital and we would have to spend 15-20 minutes getting his feet back in right. My husband and I decided on the new arrangement because if anything negative happened with 's feet (sores, etc) we wanted to know we were the ones responsible for it. No one else ever even put his shoes on until a couple of weeks ago (and he just turned 3). I know that may seem a little obsessive but that's just the way we dealt with it. You have to do what you feel best about. Good luck with finding what works for you and your family. Pam and (8-12-01) > > > Hello! What city/state are you going to be looking for childcare > in? Guest guest
OK, those are valid concerns but what about this? .... at first it'll be 23 hours a day so they won't need to take them off at the care center. Then 18 hours a day, I assume you would want those 6 hours free at home, so again, no issue with putting them on right. Or depending on your office hours, the care givers coudl take the shoes off at X o'clock prior to you going home with him....then you put them back on from home later that night. When it goes down to the 12 - 14 hours a day you can put them on in the evening around dinner time and have them removed early the next moring so the baby would be " free " all day at day care after that point. I'm not trying to boo-hoo your situation at all, the opposite really, I just don't thing the DBB is that big of a deal to work around provided there are not problems with blisters, etc. But I do remember before my son started to wear his, I had a lot of concerns too, I thought it would be a lot harder to deal with than it turned out to be. s. ----- Subject: Re: childcare for baby in FAB My daughter is not the one with clubfoot, (sorry I guess this was all explained in the original post of this thread) we're expecting a little boy who has been diagnosed w/ clubfoot. I'm just concerned that the daycare my daughter goes to now (which is where he would go as well), while they are capable and a pretty good center for a child with no difficulties, will not be able to handle the responsibility of putting the DBB on the baby correctly, dealing with any problems he may have with the DBB, and communicating with me if there are issues. Thanks for your input. ---
