First, be sure it is yeast and not bacteria. Most peds rx antibiotics

for sinus infections, even tho sometimes it is yeast. But I guess

many times it is bacteria. GSE will make bacteria worse.

Other yeast killers I have used successfully for my son are uva ursi,

caprylic acid, and garlic.

Good luck.

Dana,

How can one tell which it is?? My 7 year old son (who previously had

low IgA and used to get numerous sinus infections that would clear

dramatically within one to two days of antibiotics after weeks of

symptoms), has had 8 course of TD-DMPS. He has done extremely well,

and we have seen numerous improvements, but a few days ago he

developed the same symptoms of bacterial sinusitis (had been

sniffling for weeks, started to cough and blow out thick yellow

mucus). I started a 5 day antibiotic and he seemed better within a

day or so. My husband missed Day 4/5 of the antibiotic (as only a

man could! :) and on that day he started to get congested again.

I can't tell if this is partially-treated bacterial sinusitis or

yeast. (I had never learned yeast could cause sinusitis, so would

never have considered it.)

Is there any way I can tell?

That sounds like bacteria.

Still sounds like bacteria.

If it was yeast, antibiotics generally do no good, and in fact can

make it worse.

Since you know that it is at least PARTIALLY related to bacteria, I

would not try GSE. Maybe something like garlic, uva ursi, oil of

oregano, or one of the OTC items that will address yeast AND bacteria,

or at least not aggravate bacteria while addressing yeast. See if one

of those helps.

I have garlic 500 mg softgels. It says " processed to reduce odor " but

my son will still smell like garlic when I give it to him. When I

gave Lauricidin [which I just dropped, I will write more about that in

my next site update], I gave garlic with each dose of Lauricidin.
