My family definitely has problems with local anaesthetics, topical

or injection.. Has anyone tried acupuncture for pain relief? Hmm,

maybe the next thing I need to learn to do .... Right now " grin and

bare it " is our method.

Have not tried acupuncture for pain relief myself but I do know of a

number of studies done on it that show great efficacy. I do,

however, have a fair amount of experience using acupressure and some

specific polarity techniques for pain relief. They have worked just

great.

The problem is that you are asking about pain relief from something

other than an anesthetic during a medical procedure. Two

difficulties I would see. One is the ability to stay focused. The

other is that your hands and arms might interfere with whatever is

being done by your care provider.

As for learning it yourself, it is a very spendy program.
