Inspectors deem the acceptable level to be under 4; anything over that needs attention. My husband's rationale is that since this home has a radon remediation system in place, the radon levels could be very low now (we'd have it tested to know for sure), but it must be under 4 now to be acceptable for selling. Our present home was tested prior to closing, but as long as it's under 4 they don't require anything, & we have nothing in place to reduce radon as this other home presently does. Our question is whether this makes it okay, or even better, than a home with " acceptable " radon levels without anything to remediate them. It tested a 4, which is the lowest on the high end, 10 being the highest & worst. Anything under 4 around here is considered acceptable & nothing needs to be done. Does anyone know if these systems are safe & reliable for radon? What is the lowest score for radon we should want to see? We're considering an offer today so need to know fast...may email privately. If you're saying that the radon reading is still 4.0 after four years of mitigation, don't buy the house. My friends own Quality Radon Services in Minneapolis, Minnesota; I've place and picked up test units for them and have some of their radon literature filed here. They had the system put in place because of a score of 4. It's required to drop below 4 or they have to use other measures, so we have to think it's under 4, but it would be tested to know for sure.
