Guest guest
Jeff, I'm getting the impression that it's not all that easy to get in touch with Dr. Sparling. Yes, there is always that question about the insurance coverage. I haven't even begun that process yet. Going to Belgium seems like a really scary prospect to me. I understand what you're saying though in your message about it not really seeming that far away. It's impressive that you're already back to doing all of those activities. Congratulations. Thanks very much for sharing your hip info with me. Guest guest
Hi Barb, That's interesting about your experience with Dr. Sparling. What he told you seems kind of weird. Maybe he had too many other patients already waiting or something (??) Still seems strange. Oh well, it sounds like your choice turned out to be the best for you at the time anyway. Thank you for your advice. I appreciate it! Janie > > Has anyone had experience with resurfacing doctors in Washington > > State? Guest guest
Janie - Great to hear there are more people in the Northwest looking into this. I live near Seattle and my surgery is scheduled with Dr. De Smet in February. Once I became convinced resurfacing was the way to go, I scheduled surgery right away. I no longer have any cartilage and as of July 2003 the US physicians I saw wanted to do a THR right away. I knew if I waited too long, I would no longer be a candidate. This had a lot to do with my decision to go with Dr. De Smet. While I know there is always a chance I could end up with a THR, I believe if anyone can resurface my hip, it will be Dr. De Smet. He's probably done more than all the US/Canadian physicians combined and is extremely responsive/wonderful to work while setting this up. I am so very comforted by the glowing reports he gets in this chat group and in Peggy 's book (HIP RESURFACING OR HIP REPLACEMENT - A STORY OF CHOICES). I hope this helps, good luck in making your decision. Though I'm not a veteran yet, please don't hesitate to contact me if you'd like to talk. Thanks Re: Resurfacing doctors in Washington State * Hi Jude, I have heard from Dave, and a few other people now as well. Thank you very much for your help. When I was doing my own hip research I tried on several occasions to contact him- he never returned a call. I also live in WA state- north of Spokane. Good luck. > > Rock Climbin' Jude > LBHR De Smet 09/11/02 > > Resurfacing doctors in Washington State > > Has anyone had experience with resurfacing doctors in Washington > State?
