I'm home from my surgery

Hi everyone,

Just a quick note to let you know that I am home from the hospital

following my shoulder surgery. I'm very sore and very drugged up at

present, but I just wanted to let you know I'm in the land of the

living still. Wednesday was a very long and nightmarish day - I will

tell you more at a later date. Mac was his wonderful self though

even winding me up by calling the consent form I was signing the

death certificate! A short but thoroughly enjoyable crutch fight

ensued between us leaving patient and surgeon in hysterics and

registrar and secretary in rather bemused states! lol I know he

probably sounds like a nightmare to most people but I really love

Mac as he knows we share the same twisted humour and relishes the

chance to indulge! He's also a bloody fantastic surgeon and

exceptionally protective of me too...

I had my surgery yesterday afternoon and it appears to have taken a

lot longer and bee trickier than first expected, turning into a

three hour operation. I've been given enough Morphine and a.n.other

drugs you can list to knock an elephant out in the past 24 hours as

a result and feel completely out of it right now, my poor pupils are

pin points! Due to the amount of meds I'd had I was observed for

quite long time, but thankfully Mac was kind enough to let my home

tonight with my Mum being a nurse.

He hasn't told me much about the actual surgery yet, as I was way

too spaced to take it in anyway, he just changed my dressing (yes, a

surgeon doing a dressing - I really am becoming a pet patient!) and

specified I haven't to move the shoulder at all until I see him

again in 2 weeks time. I will no doubt get to know more about what

he has done then. In the meantime, I am trussed up in a very tight

shoulder splint, covered in bruises and sporting two lovely stapled

up incisions anterior and posterior. It's very painful still, so I'm

relying heavily on the rather potent combo of meds they've given me.

Well, I will have to go as sitting up is making the room swim and

typing one handed is stretching my concentration levels. Thank you

all for your positive thoughts and prayers during my surgery, I'm

sure they helped Mac and his wobbly wand get through whatever

unexpected issues they encountered. Please take care and know that I

am thinking of you all and I will be in touch more over the weekend

as my strength returns and my brain fog hopefully starts receding!
