If yours isn't one of them....fire him/her, and get a new one. I went to see mine today. My blood work all lookes good. He's keeping me on the low dose steroids for another week and a half, then I'm going to wean off them and see if the Arava will hold me. He said usually it takes 6-8 weeks to see good effects from Arava, but I'm having them after just 3. Crossing my fingers that I can get off the steroids and stay off. He did give me a scrip for more if I start feeling real bad after I stop taking them. Next Friday is my neuro-psych test to see if I've really lost my mind or just forgotten where I put it. It's better to do it slowly but surely than to go into another flare. Sure hope Arava is the thing that keeps you going. Also, I completely agree with your opinion. There is a lot of doctor jerks out there, but there are some great doctors as well. I won't change my nephrologist for any other doctor, and although he is not old at all, maybe 10 or so years older than I, I dread the day he will go on his retirement. My rheumy is ok, but I don't know him that well yet, and I don't think I'll ever have the same relationship as I do with my nephrologist. PCP is very thorough, but way too serious and anyway, he is very disapointed that all these other doctors get to do so much with me. Neurologist is a good doctor, and that is the only reason I stick with him. He's not good on relations with his patients, and then his English is really bad. He doesn't speak Polish either, so I sometimes have to guess what it is he is saying. Have a great weekend.
