Went to a wedding last night

I wanted to share this experience with you.

My best friend and a godmother of one of my kids has been married for 13 years now, however she only had the city hall wedding. There was never enough time to get the "real" thing and with time it didn't seem to matter to them anymore. If anything they felt with them being married for such a long while it would be a joke to have a big wedding. But, their older daughter is going to her First Holy Communion this year and both of them felt really bad about not being able to go to communion with her so they decided to get the catholic wedding. It was yesterday in the evening at a Polish church in Greenpoint and it will be one of the most memorable weddings for me. They asked a couple of friends who live by to come and be the "witnesses", they didn't want to bother anyone. I went anyway and surprised them. There was only one other person. They were dressed elegant, but in regular clothes. The priest was incredible and wanted to make them feel real good about this and put all his heart into it. The other friend that came had rice and the four of us guests, threw it at them as they left the church. It was in the evening, but it was a beautiful warm evening. We talked for a few minutes then we all said good night and went home. For someone who was looking from the outside it might have looked like a sad celebration with so little friends and without the whole glitter and shine, for us knowing these people, it felt like they were renewing their vows, pledging their love to each other all over again. I thought it was a real special day.
