Guest guest
A., Honey, my boys have been on Adderall for several years, now, and the time release version seems to work best for my teenager. We haven't had much experience with Stratera, but my friend has one of her kids on it. She liked what Adderall did for her son, but where they live, getting an in triplicate form every month is a big hassle, so they switched to Stratera which doesn't require all the paperwork. But, the drug isn't as effective for her son as Adderall. So, she is between a rock and a hard place. About your son's treatment...my son takes a combination of drugs to balance the manic effects of the Adderall. He takes a low dose of Prozac in the morning with the time release Adderall, and in the evening about an hour before bedtime, he takes Risperdol to level his moods. Works much better this way for him and for me. We have fewer manic moments, fewer confrontational days, and he is back in school two hours every day which is real progress. You might explore those options with your son's doctors. As for the prednisone reduction reaction...my dad took pred for years, off and on, and had to be weaned off it several times. He went through similar stuff to what you describe, and just had to weather it as best he could. However, they did give him a light sedative for night time so he could sleep. Hope that is helpful. Keep us posted on your progress, and stay strong for your own sake, as well as your son's. Loving hugs, MM
