I was at a meeting today and someone told me about their neighbour who

had just had a THR in Gent in Belgium on the NHS, but don't know who the

surgeon was. Because the waiting list in England was so long, she was

contacted and asked if she wanted to travel. An OT came and assessed

her home before she went, so all items such as raised toilet seats, etc,

were in place for her return, and she was whisked over on Eurostar with

her husband. She is reported to have said how excellent the hospital

facilities were there and how well she was treated.

So-I know this is hearsay only, (although I could probably find out more

if necessary) but I wonder if anyone else has heard things like this?

I wondered if one could get resurfacing in Gent paid for by the NHS

and how this would happen? Would even de Smet be possible?
