Lori,

No, we weren't given a prescription for pain med. I did give Zoe infant

tylenol whenever she was fussy and I had tried all the other ways of calming

her.

I seem to recall those days of mixed up sleep schedules... My only

suggestion would be to try and start moving the " power nap " later and later.

It sounds like he's getting such a good nap early in the evening that he

isn't exhausted enough to sleep well during the night...

On the other end of the spectrum, my 3 year old daughter stopped napping

early, but I know most of my friends have decided to not let their 3 year

old nap because then they're up until very late. While on vacation, Zoe took

a 2 hour nap and didn't go to sleep until 11 pm that night!

Hope this helps! Joanne W.

Subject: Re: Sleeping with the cast

Ive been meaning to ask a somewhat related question to the group. Was

Christian given any type of pain reliever for casting? We were

giving Tylenol w/ Codeine for Elijah to be given one hour before

casting if needed. He's 5 months old and has never really slept thru

the night. A normal night starts w/ him taking a power nap at 7PM,

then hes up for a couple hours, screams til midnight or 1AM. Then hes

up at 0300, 0500, 0700 and between 0900 and 1000. Its not been until

the last four nights that we've gotten any sleep at all and I only

managed to sleep then b/c Ive given him his pain meds before bed.

Its the first time in over 7 months that Ive gotten 6 hours of

straight sleep.

As you can see, I have no advice to offer (outside of giving him a

pain reliever to help w/ discomfort) b/c we're dealing w/ a similiar

issue.

How many parents have been given a Rx pain reliever for their

children for pain management?

Lori
