I was classically trained as a pianist, and played for over 30 years...I branched into other keyboards, and for a while was a theater music director, even a salaried composer. It all kind of died for me for quite a few years, not good ones. I'm actually going to the opera, again, and the composing's back, but it's all I can do to type the little I do here most days -- so it's very slow. I can't begin to describe how I miss performing music, playing. And don't want to face that particularly, because: unless I underwent some pretty severe physical restructuring, my body is never going to be able to put out that sort of strength again. It shouldn't have to begin with, but thankfully, maybe, I didn't know that then. I tried once about 2 years ago; I lasted about 10 minutes and paid for it for three days. So. I'm reworking a final version of a Requiem Mass, for chorus, string orchestra, organ and percussion, which I need to finish as an honor to all my friends that are gone -- then I probably pick up my string quartet, started ten years ago and never finished. If I can manage that, there are three piano sonatas to polish, and a song cycle to write. But it is SO SLOW...I try not to think of how slow. I panic. Sometimes it's too much to handle...anyway. A small picture of my soul. Mark
