I went through nearly the same thing in pregnancy #2 then after baby #3.......

They were going to put me on coumadin the time I wasn't pregnant- I remember

being in tears , it hurt so bad- and with mine, I didn't even bump it or

anything........ My leg ended up bruising in the area- I spent 2 weeks in the

hospital with a constant muscle spasm - they gave me some type of pain reliever

but the spasm did not stop for 2 weeks...... it was horrible..........

especially during pregnancy because pain relievers do affect baby so you have to

be careful what you take.....

Anyhow- she put me on coumadin, said I needed to be seen nearly everyday to get

regulated- found out I was regulated and the coumadin could have killed me had

they kept me on it when that part of me was fine........ So the label they threw

on it then was

Thrombosis.........one dr told my husband ( x husband now ) to put water in a

plastic soda bottle, put it in freezer and then when iced rub it up and down my

ouch.......... oh my God- don't ever do that........ whew.........made it hurt

twice as bad...... At the hospital they couldnt believe the dr on the phone told

us to do such a thing.

Ice is fine but not rolled up and down and over a bruised/sore area with

pressure from something shaped like a bottle whew............ and I did all I

could do too- as you are now- elevated and ice......... elevated and

ice.......... not a whole lot you can do ( which stinks ) cuz it hurts

soooooooooo bad- hopefully - you have a wheelchair handy? So your not putting

pressure on it by walking until that feeling subsides? It was so strange- its

as if it had to work down my leg- the bruise....... starting at thigh, going

down calf, on to ankle, out toes.......... and I do still get them every so

often........

One doctor said its a rupture, bleeding under the skin inside the vein.......

and that was the reason for the bruise......... but at that point they knew

nothing to do for it....... ha...... bet they still don't............

Sure hope you feel better soon............ brought back a lot of memories and

all I can think of is " OUCH " ----- I would stay off it if possible and get a

wheelchair for ladies room trips to help it heal faster....... not putting any

weight on it at all if you can......... am no professional but go through same

thing and just stating what I do when I have that happen. Are you taking asprin

by chance? I was taking an asprin a day- drs orders- they told me to hold off

doing that for a couple months, until that healed......... or take baby asprin

instead- they figured I was getting too much asprin......... this was before the

diagnosis of VEDS though.. so not sure what they'd do now.......

Your in my prayers............. Hugsssssssssss TJ

Varicose vein hemorrhage?

Hi all,

For a change, I actually have some time to get on for a little while,

although it's because I can't do much else. Thursday, at work, I suddenly

got a

terrific pain in my leg, discovered a very hard, very painful lump attached

to a

large, ropy varicose vein. I contacted my doctor and he checked it out and

initially thought a blood clot. But an ultrsound today didn't show any

blood

clots. The area is still very tender and hard and I have a bruised looking

area

about the size of my fist. I'm also still having trouble walking on it.

Back

when I was pregnant with my middle child - now 20 - I had either a blood

clot

or vein blow out. The pain and feeling was similar to what I have now. I

haven't had any of this since so I don't really know what it is. Doctor

said

phlebitis, but he didn't have any ideas about the bruising. Anybody have

any

ideas? I'm icing and elevating - anything else I should be doing? Thanks

for

any help.

Copeland
