Guest guest
A friend's mom was just diagnosed with breast cancer ...So now she started chemo and will have surgery after that... ----------------- You might want to check with your friend to find out if her mother's doctors have discussed lymphatic drainage therapy, lymph node damage and/or removal, and the subsequent heightened risk of lymphedema with her. Historically, doctors have done an extremely poor job of advising patients about the risks of lymphedemea post-chemo or post- surgery. And full-blown lymphedema is nothing to mess with - it can be life threatening. There is a whole raft of do's and don'ts for people at high risk. Any chemotherapy or radical mastecomy automatically puts someone at high risk. Trust me on this one - this is not something you mess around with or take lightly. There are also some energetic modalities that are proving effective for reducing the nasty side effects of chemo, Reiki being one of them. I have some articles and information on it if you want it. Guest guest
Hi Mike, I know that they know about these things here too. I have seen some TV programmes and read about things regardring just that problem related to breast cancer, so I would think that they have the knowledge needed... I am forwarding your mail to her daughter though, with a message that if they are interested in more information, they can just say so. Her mom is luckily a nurse who knows a lot and knows how to stand up for herself. She has Sjogren's syndrome, and has worked hard to learn things in order to handle her illness as best as she can. She had a hard time with the medical community pre-diagnosis, in a way that so many EDSers also have had... Now she gets good help though. It must have been extra tough back before she got diagnosed, she was even working as a nurse at the rheumatology ward at the county hospital... How about going undiagnosed then? It was so ridiculous... Thanks a lot!!! I'll let you know what they say...
