Guest guest
I am have problems on really cold days with my operated hip locking up. It is strange, I can't decide if it is something wrong with the sciatic nerve, a ligament issue or if my new hip is malfunctioning. ...anyone else out there in the " sticky " cold? Deb (I hope I'm remembering right, since you didn't sign your post ), We just got through a week of snowstorms and cold weather earlier this month. I spent lots of time in the snow, putting chains on the car, de-icing doors and windows, digging out the gate so the dog could potty, etc. I had NO problems at all. Your body temp will keep the implant at the correct temperature, so there is no way it is literally " freezing up " . I do remember pre-op though that when I got cold, I felt like the Tin Man, like a rusty old heap. I would " lock up " and have very little ROM and it was quite painful. For me, it was all muscle, and a hot bath would return my situation to normal (at least as normal as normal was back then). I hope you find that it is something as simple and not a problem in the hip itself. If your second hip is going south, then perhaps it is just that the first one is not balanced any more...
