Guest guest
Hi all! Well, Owen is almost 18 months and is still nursing. He's down to naptime, bedtime and then nighttime nursings. To be honest, I don't mind the naptime and bedtime....it's the nighttime nursings that are driving me batty! For a while there, he was sleeping through the night so everything was great. In the past month or so, he's been waking through the night solely to nurse. I usually bring him to our bed, he latches and then immediately settles down again while nursing. Each time I try to unlatch him (so that I can move him back to his bed), as if in a sleep-walking trance, he lurches his head forward to follow my breast and get latched back on -- he doesn't even wake during this time. Although, if I manage to get him off and cover up quickly before he gets back on, he wakes up and has a screaming fit. I've tried just ignoring him when he wakes up but he'll scream and cry until he's rescued....30 minutes of hoarse crying is about my limit since he shares a room with his 3 y/o sister -- not to mention that my stomach is in knots while I lay there trying to ignore him. I think tonight I may try turning off the baby monitor - perhaps if I can't hear him, it will be easier to ignore him and he'll get the message that 'booby time' is over! Any thoughts, ideas or tips are appreciated! Thanks, Daiga
