I am trying to get Bills SSD and SSI applications accelerated by taking in stacks of bills, hospital bills, taxi, biopsy trips records, prescriptions receipts and the hospital record of his death this week, down to social security. I got a letter telling me I have to big of SSD amount for them to talk to me. Then on page two it tells me what I could do to reduce my income. I suppose they mean tell them about my bills. They offer a way to reduce my income to qualify for SSI and burial fund. But the darn form looks like a tax form. Meanwhile SSD takes eight months. They say you work it out to reduce your income to quality for SSI; but Bill is already gone the same week the letter comes in. I am thinking of using my rent amount for his burial and telling my landlord to go to hell until next month. I can go to rent court and maybe they will have some kindness. My MIL was upset with me for saying that. She said rent is first. I said bury Bill first. I also plan to get his records to be sure the real reason they gave me only TWO days notice of his three cancers. This is interesting. I am registered with the seniors/disabled group, and that is still so new to me. I do not know what benefits are out there for disabled and seniors final expenses. If anyone ever applied for burial assistance, please tell me how it works. For example: I see this on line about form SSA-L991(7/94). BACKGROUND The Social Security Act permits the exclusion of income and resources of an individual who is blind or disabled if the individual needs such income and resources to fulfill an approved Plan for Achieving Self-support (PASS). Well, gee, knowing this, I could have arranged to hold back money for the meds, food and save for a vehicle. Or not :-< Caro.
