How far in advance can I mix doses (in pineapple > juice) and how do I store the rest? I believe (but didn't check) that I wrote here http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/HOW_TO_buy_DMSA.html that MIXED in an acidic liquid (such as pineapple juice) you could store it in the fridge for a day. However I don't think this is at all exact, I think it was an estimate Andy gave me, and MY GUESS is that it is more a " rule of thumb " than anything even close to exact. If you have some dry powder also left you can store that in anything convenient that will keep it dry. An empty capsule would work, or a paper cup kept in a dry place, or in a folded up piece of paper. The main constraint is keep it dry. > I know this has been discussed > to some extent since I joined, but I couldn't find it, so post > numbers would be appreciated if the answers are already out there. My general estimate (which was based on real prices people gave me that they had paid) in the file is $3 to $5 per capsule for premade DMSA--- your price is above that but not shockingly so. you might try calling a couple of other pharmacies, including The Falls (I think there is an email and/or phone number for them in same file, in section on compounding http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/HOW_TO_buy_DMSA.html ) I'd also try the Apothecary labs (number in file) > I had read that DMSA was cheaper than DMPS oh, it is. MUCH cheaper. > so I was really > surprised by the price and wondered how much DMPS cost! I don't seem to have a general price for premade listed in the file -- there is an example of a compounded price for 100 capsules: 25 mg each $125; 50 mg each $207; 75 mg each $289; 100 mg each $372 > Our > insurance covered most of it this time, but I am afraid they will > discontinue coverage if so you can get OTC which is cheaper. > once he exceeds the typical usage for lead > poisoning (he is high in lead as well as arsenic, antimony, aluminum, > and mercury by the counting rules). What are the approximate current > prices for VRP and the other DMSA sources? see file-- I have not checked the price with VRP in maybe a year, but have not heard of price increase. VRP: 100 mg capsules: $40 for 45 capsules, plus about $3 for shipping. Kirkman's would also be an option (more expensive than VRP but they sell smaller capsules [e.g. 25 mg]) and you do have a doctor (which they require signature or something) good wishes, Moria > Any information is greatly appreciated! > Thanks, > ~
Guest guest
I bought mine at kirkman (90 caps, 50mg, for less than $50 I think) I also tried vrp (you can check the price at vrp.com, but I did not like it because the filler does not dissolve well). It is way cheaper than yours... I dilute one cap in pineapple juice and discard the rest after 12 hours. > I tried to search the files for answers, but wasn't very successful. > I have 100 mg capsules of Chemet that I plan to use with my 36 lb. > son. Guest guest
The VRP cap doesn't have a filler. I checked the other day and that is what I was told. But that may be why it doesn't dissolve well. They were 100mg/45 caps for $36.00 (10% disc for 1st time orders).
