Guest guest
I thought that it might be reassuring for some of you who are expecting a baby with clubfoot, or who have a newborn with clubfoot to see some pictures of my now 4 year old daughter... she's barefoot in some of the pictures, and you cannot really tell the difference between her normal foot and corrected foot. If you have a dial-up connection, be warned ahead of time that there are a bunch of photos and it will take a while to load. http://pages.ivillage.com/trevillian The last 3 photos on the page are really the reason that I was moved to share the pictures with you. The photographer asked her to jump and spin as he snapped pictures- (he was trying to get some artistic pictures to play with- he had no idea that there was anything special about her foot) and in hindsight, those pictures really capture the achievement of taking that twisted little foot and making it " fully functional " . When we started out with this group, the " older " kids were Jakob and - who weren't even 2 at the time! I know I would have liked to have had some pictures of " old timers' " feet to see where we were heading. (Especially when I wasn't sure that all that extra skin was going to go away!) I have been through the emotional rollercoaster that many of you are currently on. I hope that these photos help reenforce the idea that some day, you'll be on the " other side " of treatment looking back at pictures and seeing how far your child has come. There's a link in the links section to another photo album with a photo of 's foot at birth if you're motivated to see the " before " picture along with the current pictures. I hope this is encouraging to some of you- Regards, & (3-16-00) left clubfoot, switched to Ponseti method at 4 months old
