I think that is a smart move with the second opinion. I just can't believe there is nothing more to do but to wait for your knee to completely deteriorate. Doesn't make sense and I sure hope your second opinion has better ideas. It's a pity you have to wait until August, though.

The last two days have been very hot here as well. I hate a/c, especially since we have a loud wall unit. The house is too old to go fooling around with putting in a central, and then it would cost us a fortune, so we are now looking into getting one of those units where the compressor is out and you just get the part that blows air in the house. Those are extra quiet but pretty expensive, so we are looking for a good deal. Anyway, the last two days we needed that a/c on. Yesterday in the morning, I went to weed my tomatoes, that was not a smart move. I can hardly move today. My joints are hurting big time. With this weather it is no wonder. It was pretty ok in the morning, but the whole day was really hot. On top of that the a/c in my van is going out. My hubby found the problem, all I now need to do is to see if I can find this part for less money than at the dealers. It's a 10 year old Quest, with almost 100,000 on it. We never had any problems with it, just did maintenance, but we'll have to start looking for a new van probably some time next year.

My gosh, I'm rambling on. Regarding the dermatologist.... You probably know it isn't easy to find the right meds to help each case. Sorry to say that, but my hubby has a skin condition on his scalp and his neck. He's had it for 14 years or so. It's no big deal, but it makes his life miserable. He can't go to a barber shop or he'll break out immediately. We have a trimmer that is used only by him. Even if use it for my boys, he will break out. He breaks out anyway. Nobody seems to be able to find the right combination of medicine to help him. It's curable, but what they give him helps until his skin gets used to it. That's maybe a month at best. Then it goes back to bothering him. It got to a point where he doesn't even go to dermatologists anymore, we've tried many of them, and plenty of stuff to help him. Hope they can help you for your psoriasis.

Hey, since you don't mention any I assume Cellcept isn't giving you any side effects?

Good luck with everything,

Mojo

update, MM, Rhonda, &

Hey all,

Just wanted to drop a semi quick update for you all.

Had to go see orthopedic surgeon Tuesday for the osteonecrosis in my right knee for more films. (I haven’t been able to literally move my knee for hour’s different times during the week – so we wanted to see if the osteonecrosis had gotten worse) Films didn’t show much of the disease worsening but he did say that what I was experiencing was from gas build up and such from the dead bone – He made it sound good J Anyways he said there was nothing he can do for it – that I am to continue to just sit and wait for the knee to crumble so I can get a knee replacement. HELLO!!!!!! That does not sit well with me – I love this surgeon to death and he has known me since 97 before I got sick and he has seen me through everything – He is even Mike’s surgeon for both his workers comp accidents and knows our health history to a “T” anyways I made some phone calls and I am going to see another Surgeon for his opinion over at Strong Hosp in Aug. I haven’t had the nerve to tell my current surgeon – I don’t want to upset him but I just want a 2nd opinion. If this new surgeon says I have to sit and wait – well then I guess that is what I will have to do – its just so damn painful – and I have enough pain going on elsewhere to have to deal with more J I have to get my films from this surgeon to take with me to the new one plus the last progress report – so my current surgeon will know I am getting a 2nd opinion L

So for the osteonecrosis I get to continue to use crutches and/or the walker when the knee is acting up really bad, keep it elevated as much as possible, and ice it as much as possible – oh yeah and to continue to sit and wait. Grrrrr

Now I have been dealing with my dermatologist for 6 months know on what he just says is eczema but I keep telling him the stuff he is giving me isn’t not cutting it and this is more that just eczema well I did some research and from the looks of it this is Psoriasis – it has spread all over (elbows, knee’s, forearms, neck, scalp, and now my butt cheeks) No comment from you Miss J Rheumy gave me some samples of Elidel and I put it on some of the areas and it seems to have helped some but not enough – I go to the derm tomorrow and I am not going to be nice anymore to him – I don’t have the $$ to keep throwing away for stupid scripts that don’t do jack shit!!!! He will do something tomorrow and I will tell him that or I will take my itchy, scaly ass elsewhere J

Hmmm well I continue to up my dosages of the Cellcept as rheumy has written and am know on 750 mg. another week I go up 250 mg. more. I haven’t noticed if it is working or not yet – can’t remember if this is one of the meds that take several weeks to kick in – but I do know I so miss my methotrexate!!!! (I hated the shots but damn that shit was a miracle drug for me) I just hope this med works as well if not better and I so hope it helps this eczema /psoriasis situation because apparently the methotrexate was L

The fibro is kicking my butt lately but who knows if it’s the fibro or a combination of health issues, but the weather hasn’t helped. We have been having high humidity here and you southern states can keep it J I still prefer this weather over snow though J We just had a thunderstorm come through and it has cooled down a lot since then – thank god we have a cold front coming in J

Migraine hit me this evening so I am taking my migrahealth to help alleviate it J So glad I got this drug. You have to order it through a website but my neurologist who specializes in migraines highly recommends it and I have been able to control my migraines since starting it J

I know there are messages I needed to reply to on the board but I can’t get to them right now – but should be able to tomorrow.

Welcome to all the new members. MM glad all went well with the procedure yesterday. Just please take it easy, try not to stress, and be careful…

Rhonda & – I go to Dr. Pryhuber rheumatology assoc. heck I can’t remember their entire name but it is he and Tammi Slotzhauer that have the practice but are not taking any new patients – They are too far away from both of you anyways – They are in Irondiquoite. Rhonda I suggest if you can getting into the place where goes – I have heard some good things about Dr. Condemi but would not give up my Rheumy for the world – he is the bomb!!!!

Okay that’s it for now the knee is really killing me now that I haven’t had it elevated for awhile – uggggg Will write more tomorrow.

God bless you all and goodnight…

Hugs,

Deanna
