Guest guest
Hi everyone, Well, I spoke with Sis around 4:30 - I couldn't stand it anymore, so I called her. Thank goodness she answered the phone. It is not good news, but it's not the worst either. The plan WAS, that she go to her doctor today and get her blood tested and get the latest potassium numbers. I believe she was to give them to Dr. Francomano, and in the meantime, Dr. Francomano has made an appointment for her with a nephrologists at HEALTHSOUTH Medical Center (I'm not sure this is the name of the hospital, but it's a teaching hospital in Dallas I believe) next week on the 14th. She was unable to go get her blood drawn this morning, however. Lennie came home ill as well - they believe he probably has bronchitis. Sis was unable to drive herself, as she's been vomiting and has only been able to keep down a small glass of apple juice. She threw up all her meds this morning, so basically didn't get any potassium into her today. She thinks the reason she was able to keep down the apple juice, was because she happened to find a pill for vomiting, etc. that Dr. Grubb gave her a couple years ago, that you place under your tongue. She will take some more of that tonight to see if she can keep anything down. As far as the Florinef that she's on for the POTS, which depletes the potassium level, she is on the lowest dose possible, which I THINK she told me is 1 mg. It just is not clear why her body is not retaining the potassium! The plan NOW, is that Lennie will drive them BOTH to her family doctor tomorrow morning. Sis thinks that if he sees her in person, with his own two eyes, that he will be able to see how serious this is, and will take immediate steps to see that something is done. If he doesn't, the plan will then be to perhaps go to Dallas and try to get into see the doctor that Dr. Francomano has set up earlier. Or her doctor may call that doctor, and or Dr. Francomono or Dr. Grubb. The problem is, doctors listen to other DOCTORS and not the patient, especially when dealing with a NEW patient, so 's doctor or Dr. Francomono almost has to be the one to set this all up. It seems that doctors have us by the short hairs, so to speak, and it just INFURIATES me! I made Sis PROMISE to call me as SOON as she knows the numbers from her doctor, and what the plan of attack is. I told her to call me if she needs me there as well. Unfortunately, I don't have enough time to take off work for both the conference and to go help Sis. Of course I will go help her, if it is necessary, without a moment's hesitation! I know Lennie would set it up for me to fly there. I just need to wait to see what's happening, and what the prognosis is. I PRAY it won't be bad, and I have a good feeling that it won't. I'm counting on my feelings, as it's how I got through Sue's last hospitalization, and Sue came through that fine - it was a rough, tough fight, but she did it! I'm counting on the same thing happening for Sis! Please pray with me that it happens this way! I do THANK ALL of you for your prayers and concern for , and so does she! She feels very, very loved and extremely blessed by all of you! I will let you know, of course, of any developments. Love Lana 0 :-)
