myo vs embo?

Hi, I posted a few days ago about having had an embo on Dec. 11th,

but now I'm curious about something, having read several posts from

other ladies. I was told by my gyn that here in Canada (up until 6

months ago) they didn't do either proceedure. My only options were

(the alltime favourite) hysterectomy, or taking birth control pills,

fertility pills or wait and see. So after 8 years of doing the

fertility pills (I only have 1 son, 16 years old and miscarried once-

probably due to the fibroids now when I think back and was otherwise

infertile) and just trying to wait and see (I had the major clotting

and gushing and severe anemia issues as well), my gyn finally

informed me that Canada was doing a " new " proceedure - embolization,

which I jumped at because I was trying to get that done for 2 years

already since I knew about it already. I'm 43 so not as concerned

about having another baby as I had been although if it happened I

would be happy, so that part of the unknown concerning embo wasn't

such a big deal for me. My gyn also said that they still don't do

myos in Canada so it still wasn't an option even though I had been

thinking of that as well. What I was wondering though, is for those

of you who did have the option, and were beyong wanting more

children, why did some of you choose myo over embo? I found the embo

proceedure and recovery very easy to go through for the most part

and thought that the myo procedure would probably be a lot more

painful. Was it because it would get rid of the problems

immediately rather than waiting for the fibroids to shrink? I would

have been concerned that they would grow back and I would have to go

through it again and it seems that there are many more people who

have more than one myo than embo. Just curious.
