Hiya

I'm 22 and I have advanced osteo arthritis in my right hip which I've

had since I was 18 as a result of congenital hip dysplesia. At the

moment I've got to make the decision between a replacement and

resurfacing and as far as I can tell resurfacing appears to be the best

option for me. Does anyone know how long how long a resurfacing done in

Birmingham is likely to last me. I still have pins in my leg which need

to come out in an awkward operation before a replacement is done but

it's better to do this when I'm young. Whereas if I have a resurfacing

they can stay in as they don't cause me any problems.

What I have to decide is should I get the pins out, wait a couple of

years for my bones to heal and then get a resurfacing done. Or should I

just get the resurfacing done in Autumn and wait and see and hope I

never need a replacement. One thing I do know is that I can't put off

doing SOMETHING any longer - this is totally disrupting every aspect of

my life.

Is anyone else out there in a similar situation? Any thoughts anyone?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
