The response to local anaesthetics (EMLA-cream)...

This I found quite interesting. I have never had a problem being numbed by

novocaine shots at the dentist. I did however have to get some warts burned off

in a sensitive area and they used a cream to do this. The doc told me it would

burn and kept asking if I felt it yet and I kept saying no. He was quite

surprised and told me I had a high tolerance for pain.

This article hinges on the skins response rather than when a nerve is

injected as with the dentist. Can't say I've ever had a numbing cream applied so

don't know what the response would be.

Big thing though is they only tested a very small number of people with

this. And importantly, till all the docs agree on the clinical testing criteria

for EDS Hypermobility Type this test couldn't be counted on. They could have

easily used EDS people with major skin issues which some docs require even to

have EDS H Type. Even if it was one day able to seperate HMS from EDS

Hypermobility Type it still wouldn't answer the question as to whether HMS is a

genetic connective tissue disorder.

Just my 2 cents :-)
