Guest guest
Get ready for a rant and whine session!!! I just spent another 3 hours at the doctor and am no farther along in grappling with this than before I went in. My ANA, CR-P and SED rate are normal and there is nothing in the bloodwork that indicates inflammation, yet my knees, hips, ankles and hands are mega-duty swollen and I have rheumatoid nodules on my elbows! A few weeks ago, the CR-P was very high; now it's totally normal. The bloodwork did show a positive RF again, hypothyroidism, very high SS-DNA, and borderline DS-DNA. So, what the heck?! My doctor was shaking her head! My bloodwork doesn't correlate with my history, symptoms and -- the most obvious -- the physical exam. She's keeping me on the Plaquenil, methotrexate and Celebrex since they are helping with some things. I've had cortisone injections in my hip which did no good, and today I had cortisone injections in my ankles. Absolutely nothing is taking down the ankle swelling and it hurts a lot. My biggest fear is that since my test results are all over the place and we're not yet pinpointing everything that's going on, I'm not taking the correct meds and, basically, wasting my time. Any advice? Suggestions? -Anne
