Guest guest
Hi All, I am new to this group, and would like to introduce myself. I am Cindi, from the mountain community of Flagstaff, Arizona. I just recently rejoined WW, for the zillionth time. I am an emotional eater/dieter, and the last few years have been emotionally rough, so my weight zoomed back up, almost to my all-time high of 187. Thank God I found my desire for health again and weighed in this time at 183. My current " empowering thought " is " Mom needs to take care of herself before she can fully care for everyone else's needs. " I LOVE the Core Program. I am turning into a health food nut, and thoroughly enjoying it. The first week, I ate fresh, ripe peaches till they were coming out my ears, and loved it. I've also been trying out new foods and ingredients for the last few weeks and have found that some things are not nearly as hard a switch as I had thought, like non-fat sour cream & brown rice. (I am still holding out on non-fat hard cheeses. If someone finds a tasty one, I'd love to hear about it.) I have also discovered many new foods, or, in some cases rediscovered, such as 7-grain hot cereal and homemade tabouli, with virtually unlimited mix-ins. I hope to share some of my recipes with the group, and to hear about some interesting discoveries. Even though my WW leader likes to chant " If it ain't on the list, it ain't a Core Food, " I still think some things are open to interpretation. I have picked up a brown rice pasta, and think it counts as brown rice (limit once/day) since that's all that's in the ingredients. Would you agree? Here's a tough one: my homemade beef jerky, made with very lean round steak, soy sauce, lemon pepper and garlic salt - all on the list. Okay, I know I've departed from the category of Health food here. It is so yummy, but in my heart of hearts, I know it is too salty to be a core food. What do you think? Anyway, I think I am going to enjoy being a part of this group. Cindi T Flagstaff, AZ
