Guest guest
Just cracked another one. There was a series of posts recently about whether you could crack a rib from coughing or sneezing - well, that's exactly what just happened. I was sitting here typing an email to someone, bent slightly forward in my chair, and got hit with kind of a combination cough and sneeze. It felt like it put my diaphragm on the right side into spasm and cracked my 11th rib dead center on the side. It feels like a re-break from a weakened spot from two years ago. It doesn't feel too bad, as long as I don't move or try to breathe. This really ticks me off! Vent, vent, vent! The only positive thing about it is that it won't cost me any money. I already know that if it is just cracked and not a displaced fracture, it won't show on Xrays. So, no point in wasting a couple of hundred bucks for the ER to tell me there is nothing wrong when I know damn straight there is. Besides, all they would do is write me a prescription for pain pills (which I refuse to take) or tell me to wear a rib brace (which I already have and can choose to wear or not wear on my own without having to have some moron tell me to.) But what really ticks me off is that if it were subluxed, I could put it back in. If it was a displaced fracture, I could reset it. I can do either energetically (and have done so a number of times in the past). But instant knitting and no more pain? Ain't there yet. Going to be fun and games around the rib cage for a few days - hoping that the one fracture knits before it gets joined by another one. Since there were at least six, maybe nine, on the right side two years ago, I will be moving very guardedly for the next 3-4 days. Curses, foul language, and bad words!
