Ugh! I know what you mean. Everyone is running scared from virus and spam

problems that they have over-protected us to the point of dumping or

blocking the important stuff as well. A friend of mine has an anti-spam

protection on her email system at work that not only blocks any email it

deems as spam, but also puts the sender's address on a block list. If I

ever send her anything that the computer thinks is spam, she won't receive

it and will never get another email from me again.

Yahoo has been driving me nuts with their anti-spam protection. I have been

updating the links on 4 different EDS lists - making sure they still work,

and adding new ones. Yahoo has determined that if I enter too many links

that I must be spamming the lists and locks me out for no less than 1 hour.

Boardhost is another one that has anti-spamming protection that ruins

functionality. The UK EDS group has a message board which I check

periodically and post responses. Now, I can only post 1 response every 2

minutes. They won't allow me to post any faster for fear of spamming. Just

because I type fast doesn't make me a spammer! It's almost not worth my

time if I have to wait 2 minutes between posts - especially when I am doing

it on my lunch break at work where my time is already limited.

What makes me angry is not the protections that have been put in place, but

the spammers and virus makers that have made these changes necessary. The

so-called protections are just a symptom of the larger problem of viruses

and spam. It's truly sad.
