Guest guest
Tish, Do you know if hypothyroidism affects the AST and ALT? Recently mine have Been high. I was diagnosed with fatty liver in 1997. The main elevated Enzyme then was alkaline phosphatase. I went on the Hallelujah diet and Everything normalized. (I asked the gastroenterologist's assistant if Hypothyroidism was related to fatty liver and he said " no " . But I believe I've read somewhere that it is.) Anyway, I had just begun milk thistle before my liver tests. Both ALT And AST were high. I was told to be retested in 2 weeks. When I returned The AST was barely normal and the ALT was still high. Then 2 weeks later, When the ALT was retested, I was sick with an infection and the ALT was Even higher, so the doctor wants me to see the specialist. However, she Didn't know about the infection because I had seen the urgent care doc for That. Do you know if infection would affect that number? Here's the numbers: AST (0-40) 45 39 ALT (0-40) 74 65 115 Thanks so much! in Va. I am one of those that got diahrrea on 1/4 grain and it took me two years to get my thyroid dose up to 3-1/2 grains. You liver enzyme problems related to the adrenal fatigue and hypothyroidism and will go away when you get your thyroid dose up higher. This sort of thing is often reported by patients beginning thyroid therapy. Some less educated doctors sometimes think the patient is having a reaction to the Armour. But, it has to do with the thyroid therapy's affect on depleting the adrenals, which in turn alters liver function. Also, low dose thyroid therapy can make you more hypo than no therapy and this can really slow down the liver. As hypothyroidism worsen's the body is unable to convert carotene to vitamin A and so the orange/yellow of carotene can also make you yellow. But, if you have adrenal fatigue, you have to just do the best you can and make raises as you can. By the time you get your dose up high enough or I'm guessing close to about 3 grains, this should all clear up.
