Guest guest
Shelby, I was diagnosed with Lupus over 17 years ago. Over 3 years ago I started getting " motion sickness " , experienced dizziness and got plenty of headaches. I saw a neurologist and my MRI showed multiple brain spots. They ran a whole bunch of tests, pretty much obtruding everything but a few things. Then they did a spinal tab and there was a non-conclusive answer. 20 or so percent of MS does not show up in the spinal tab result. Their betting between MS or Lupus affecting the nervous system. I have since had a repeat MRI and it is not progressing, so I'm getting medication for the headaches and we're watching any possible signs of progression. What I'm trying to say is that it is my understanding that there are similarities in the brain MRI in both diseases. Now, my sister started with a brain MRI, but hers showed a different type of whatever, and then there was a follow up with a spinal MRI. On top of that she had typical symptoms: legs going numb, problems with her eyes. She was diagnosed with MS. I think your brother should definitely tell the doctor about your family history and maybe even see a rheumatologist or ask his primary to run other test for lupus. Good luck.
