Has anyone been told their uterus was too stretched to have effective

contractions?

~

Hi...they said apparently with each progressive pregnancy, the labors became

more and more ineffective-because the ligaments and tendons were getting more

stretched out. All 3 labors I had no pain...some menstrual like cramps with the

first one is all-a 7 hour labor. (and no urge to push) I couldn't push strong

enough to deliver the baby, so the nurses needed to help by pushing on my

uterus...(it didn't hurt me when they did that.)

The 2nd one was a 9 hour labor, again no pain. (no urge to push) And high

forceps were used to help her come out.

With the 3rd one, I started labor on Tuesday night, with contractions 5 minutes

apart. and they continued for 3-4 hours, when I called the doctor. He had me

admitted. Got there and shortly after the nurses checked me, the labor stopped.

Yet I was slowly dilating.

The doctor tried a med that was put in between my cheek and gums to start it,

and it didn't work. After the med wore off, I still kept dilating and

effacing...

this went on until late Friday afternoon, when I was to a dilated to a 6-7. (I

wanted to go home sooo badly-but he didn't let me....said I could wake up with a

baby in the bed. )

Finally about 9 Friday night he broke the water, and started pitocin-less than 2

hours later, I had the baby.

No pain even with induction. Whew! (also I never did have the urge to push while

on pitocin.) My daughter(EDSer) also had a hard time starting labor with the

second pregnancy. So she too needed to be induced. She had an added problem of

the bag of waters leaking slowly through out the end of her pregnancy-with both

babies....the second one had inhaled meconium.

Thankfully our children were all healthy and neither of us had any of the more

serious problems that can arise with having EDS.--We're not typed as to what

classification we're in)
