Guest guest
I'm just wondering if Botox injections to fix facial wrinkles are advisable and safe with EDS. Anybody know about using Botox or collagen injections with EDS or if this might be contraindicated? Thanks for any help. --------------- If I recall from the last time I checked on it, it runs about $500 a shot. If for strictly cosmetic reasons, it probably (most likely) will not be covered by insurance. It works by deadening the nerves and is strictly temporary. It needs to be be done about every 3-4 months. If you don't keep doing it, you lose all the " gain. " In other words, it is not a " get one shot and be done with it " situation. You are looking at it on and on, over and over again. I would personally go for a combination of specific acupressure points combined with lymphatic drainage. The combination improves circulation and removes toxins. With improved circulation, the wrinkles tend to " fill in " naturally. No, it is not some instant, miracle fix, but it can help. It is also a natural approach and something you can be taught to do on and for yourself.
Guest guest
WEll you have certainly given me lots to think about. I dont think of any of that stuff out there as a quick long lasting fix. And I cannot help but wonder if this stuff is compatable with EDS. Since our collagen is already too lax, can they really toughen it up for us? Lots of confusion for me. I think I will make one more doc appointment....with the guy who would do the procedures, and see what he says AND, most importantly IF he knows ANYTHING about these issues. If the whole point to all this is to boost collagen, can that really be done in an EDS person? Lots of questions. Anyhow, I sure appreciate your thoughts on it. At least I know I am not alone in questioning its appropriateness in our situations. Thanks again. I'll try to let you know what the doc says.
