Guest guest
Mike, I reread what I wrote....and want to make it clear....I was teasing you.... Only because that's my reaction to dad. Dad and I are way too much alike....and we've been sooo close all my life....he too has EDS. I had a wonderful time being teased by him....but he was sending a message when he pulled that stuff--he had serious " objections " to the young man. On meeting our oldest daughter's husband to be...he told him if he found out he(the young man) was treating her badly, he'd break her neck! --and as my sister & I grew up knowing....we were in for far more trouble from a threat of a broken neck, as compared to a broken arm or leg.. Dad's a very gentle man, but we knew when bodily parts were threatened with a fracture, we were on thin ice with him, and better shape up. CindyH Wisc. More will follow about your post on Barb in Anchorage. Re: Re: Dental/Orthodontic issues/ what dad's do - Mike Mike-you horrid man! I got the lump of coal just like Barb....dad would say, right in front of the young men he didn't approve of, " when's that boy leaving? " and it was only after minutes. and/or he'd even threaten them with broken bodily parts if they didn't treat me well. I wanted to crown him! (and there's been only one so lucky as to avoid that fate.) Rod- I brought him home to meet the folks and dad has yet to do either one. We'll be married 35 years this year. Poor Barb......now I understand why you've been picked on here on the list......you deserve it.... 'cause you're like my dad....he threatened the shot gun, but never did it. He did other stuff to embarrass me tho'. Now he does it to get mom's goat....LOL CindyH. Being a typical (perhaps overly protective at times) father, I did not always totally approve of some of her boy friends. Neither one of us is apt to forget the night that one of her new boy friends was going to pick her up at the house for a date. Before said new boy friend arrived, Barb told me " Don't do it, Dad. " In total innocence, I said " Do what? " She replied " You know what! " Of course, with that comment, I just had to do " it. " " It " was answering the door so the first thing new boy friend saw was the father of his date wearing a ..45 automatic in a shoulder holster. Let's just say there were NO problems with her getting home at the agreed upon time that night.

I could tell; I checked and I didn't have any new bruises and I wasn't bleeding.
