That's what my latest X-ray of my right hip shows. I went to a " hip

arthroscopy only " doctor, and he said WAY TOO LATE to help me. There

isn't much cartilage left, and how long I want to hang before hip

replacement is all up to me. For the most part I haven't been too

bad. But then there seems to be more and more painful days.

I'm wearing Ecco shoes and better footwear in general and it has

helped me a bit. I've worked in MFG. my whole life on cement floors.

I've read some stories about people in their decline, talking about

the loss of mobility and motivation for exercise, more pain, and I

see my own story unfolding right in front of me. My local hip doc,

said in his notes " that I was kind of wasting my time " by just

visiting him for health related scripts and I was hoping for a

miracle in vain. He's not fond of the surface. Well, I am hoping for

a miracle.

I'm having an MRI of my lower back tomorrow ( I'm 50 with DDD ) to

see what's up there. I've had spasms, for which I see an

accupunturist now and then and I do get relief from it. Getting up

in the morning and taking my first step will cause spasm in lower

back ( the hip side ). Sometimes a big ouch. Don't know if the hip

is what is causing this. But one thing I'm sure of, is that it sucks.

From there, I have a consult in Mar. with a Neuro to discuss back,

and appt. in April with a top " conventional " hip guy.

My gut feeling though, is to see Dr. Mont, who appears to be the

closest to me here in Massachusetts. It sounds like Mont has done

MANY. I will go through with MRI though, just to see latest status

of my spine. The x-ray and MRI will be kept at the hospital/facility

because they went to a fiber optic network. So I don't know if I

will be able to get conventional copies, or ask that they " mail

films " via computer to a doctor of my choice. Someone like Mont. Or

does he prefer having all his own stuff? Captain Amazin speaks

highly of him.

My chiropractor says the bad hip is the gateway/first line of

support for my back, and it's probably what's killing me, so I'm

trying to come to grips with the options available. 4 of you people

responded to my last post, which I appreciate greatly. It seems like

the " on the fence person " is the only anti-Mont patient. Although

it's possible to just not connect with someplace or someone. It

happens.

I'd like to know, who is the King/Queen of surface in Longevity so

far?

What's the longest lasting resurf to date? 3,5, 10 years?

How many days on crutches/walker?

What will be the recovery time before returning to work?

I'm a motorcyclist, are there any others out there with this type of

replacement?

I realize just the same you must change your lifestyle a bit, and

protect the hip. I intend to.

I'm not someone who wants to be laid up too long. I've rehabbed 17

times from multiple orthopedic procedures to knees, shoulder,

elbows, and a few other things. I'm not afraid of rehab, I'm afraid

of this unknown.

I'm also getting married in the very near future. We're just going

to fly out to Vegas, and then tour around a bit. And I sure want to

do that first.

Again, I ask for replies to my person, at zork51@...

Thank you,

The Chicken...... alias
