I personally believe that mercury is an important contributor

to the development of autism in many cases. I know for

certain that chelation results in significant progress for

MANY kids with ASD, probably most.

While I do not feel comfortable that I know what percentages

of kids with ASD this is, some (e.g. Andy) estimate that around

75% of ASD cases involve mercury OR OTHER METALS. Many ASD

kids test high on SEVERAL metals, not " just " mercury.

This is both a difficult question and an easy question.

It is difficult because there really is not a direct and

definitive test for mercury poisoning. It is easy because

I can post the following link to a test that I would recommend

(that is indirect and not definitive, but still quite helpful):

NO. It does not mean that. Please read:

http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/LOVE_LETTERS.html

Look for items about " older " kids and adults, or just

read at random if you want.

Welcome!

No, you are not too late.

Mercury is very hard to test for because it hides in the fatty tissues. It

only stays in the blood for two weeks after exposure. Take some time to read

the files of this list, and many of your questions will be answered.

Adults toxic since childhood improve greatly on treatment, as do

adolescents and teenagers. There is no reason to think of 10 as too

old to benefit.

See the " how to hair test " file on www.earthlink.net/~moriam/ for

proper mercury testing, and be aware that at age 10 you might get a

" false negative " result. Other tests for mercury are not very useful.

I have a 10 year old son as well and he holds his hands in front of his face and

makes little noises as he watches something that the rest of us cannot see. He

has been diagnosed as PDD NOS, and he has high levels of antimony, mercury and

arsenic in his hair sample. I cannot offer you any advice as I am also new to

this and I am looking for answers re: chelation for these contaminants, etc.

However, for what it is worth I can offer you support in the knowledge that

there are others in very similar situation to yours who understand the

challenges (and joys) you have faced over the years. You are not alone in

dealing with this. I wish you all the best for you and your family. If I find

anyhting that might help you and I will pass it along, please reciprocate if you

can. Peace and best regards

We observed speech-delay when he was about 2-4 years old. We had an

EEG/EKG done, with nothing found. We had numerous blood tests found,

nothing found. I was wondering, since most everyone here is talking

about chelation, do even half the cases of autism involve

mercury-poisoning? I've read many " official " sites saying that most

of autism cases are not tied to mercury.

One other thing, my son, when he was younger, used to put his hand up

in his face (palm-side facing him), then bend his fingers in and out,

smiling/laughing at this observance. I found out that was a visual

stim, and it just went away, should I be concerned about that at all?

Also, is this visual stim a further confirmation of autism?

Lastly, I have seen so many sites that offer mercury testing and

alternatives, which are the most trustworthy and recommened? Is the

fact that my son is 10 years of age mean its too late for him?

Thank you all for bearing my long email, and my prayers go out to all of you.

God Bless.
