Bonnie:

Unfortunately I have not traveled Ireland, but as Mike says there are

monolithic structures the world over. I recall the guide at Avebury

telling us that most ancient churches were built over areas where ley

lines crossed because these places were pagan gathering or spiritual

places. In order to change the peoples thinking and attitude re these

places the Church sort of confiscated the land or to enhance the

perception of their spiritual powers they built on these sites. Also, I

suspect, this interrupted the pagan rites or activities. Did you know

that practically every English church has the high alter located at the

East end of the church. I believe it is the east end if my memory

serves me correctly and Westminister Abbey is built over a ley line

crossing site.

I know I have seen documentaries about monolithic structures located in

Ireland, stone circles more ancient than Stonehenge even, but for the

life of me I do not remember any names. The Irish are famous for

superstition and the belief in fairies and elves and such. The Catholic

church couldn't shake it out of the Irish. If we have any English or

Irish ceda members they will know of these places.

Regards, Bernie
