Guest guest Posted October 19, 2004 Report Share Posted October 19, 2004 JoAnn, For SSD you are supposed to be totally disabled and not be able to work a full or part time job doing any sort of job. They do have a program that you can try to work for a period of 2 months and still get benefits...but after 2 months you don't get anything from SSD because you are now able to go back to work even if it is only a part time job and will have to start all over again to get back on SSD from the beginning. They do not take your word that you can not work after the 2 month trial period..they take your bosses word...so even if you feel you cannot work because you are tired and sore and worsening...the Boss can say that you showed up on time and the # of days..what your performance was...and in his/her opinion can you hold down a job...even though he isn't a dr he has the final say in it. Hope this helps answer your questions. oh and if you even make 100 dollars a month say selling crafts..if it is taxable the consider this to be enough to take away SSD. To go on SSD you must be declared totally disabled and unable to work at all, then after you have been on it you can try going back to work but hours or how much you make are restricted.Like I said I am not real sure about this but it seems to me that is how it is.
