Re: Synthroid Recall

Synthroid has been recalled several times due to the fact that lots of

it ALREADY distributed to pharmacies nationwide were found to be

SUBPOTENT or the strengths of the tablets were not consistent. In fact

synthroid was sold and used by consumers for many years without proper

FDA approval. Recently Levoxyl has had the same subpotentcy problems,

with at least 2 recalls that I'm aware of.

A few years ago I read in the newspaper about litigation against

Synthroid and called the number and was sent a class action lawsuit sign

up packet. I joined the suit, and last year received a check in mail

for about $75. , which is a joke considering I had been on it for about

9 years.

After 9 years on Synthroid and 2 on Levoxyl, my brain screamed,

AAHHGGGHHH!!! No wonder I feel like CRAP!!!! This year I decided to

investigate other meds which led me to this group and educating myself

and not blindly trusting doctors. I am a very large lady, and my doctor

always blamed my weight on the overwhelming fatigue, joint pain, etc.

I've been big my whole life, and years ago I had ENERGY and could

function!! In 1992 my thyroid levels were tested and found to be low--I

gained 70 lbs. that year and would struggle to stay awake at work. I

took the Synthroid and never felt any better and the excess weight

didn't magically disappear, either.

It's all been downhill.

I've been on 90 mg of Armour now for about 5 weeks--I know my dose needs

to be increased because this week I feel WORSE. The Armour I ordered

from PrescriptionWorks has not arrived yet, and I don't see my nurse

practitioner until Dec. 9, and she always balks about med increases. I

have to go this week and get my labs done. I'm going to prepare some

notes to take to back up my reasons for increasing the Armour regardless

what the labs say.

Thank you all for being here.

Doreen :)
