Guest guest
Hello, I'm new to this group, having just found out about resurfacing. My query: Does anyone know if BHR is generally suitable for acetabular protrusion (aka protrusio acetabuli)? I couldn't find any posts on it. In case you're not familiar with it, acetabular protrusion is " where the socket of the hip joint is too deep and bulges into the cavity of the pelvis " , and in my case has lead to very reduced range of movement and pain and inflammation in both hips. I've had it for 15 years (I'm 35) and have had to progressively reduce my activities to the point where I have difficulty walking for more than 10 minutes and can't do any weight-bearing sport (although I do row competitively and cycle regularly). Based on X-rays my orthopod was surprised that my problems weren't much more severe, and said he would recommend total hip replacement, but that I'm too young. I will talk to another consultant about my suitability for BHR (not soon though, given the speed of the NHS), but I'd also be very grateful for feedback from this group. Thank you in advance,
